IMDB rating: 4.20 Plot: Sam Roffe, president of a multi-national pharmaceutical corporation, is killed while mountain-climbing. It is first determined to be an accident, but Inspector Max Hormung later deduces that Roffe was murdered. Sam’s daughter Elizabeth assumes control of the company, and while traveling through Europe she immediately becomes a target as well. Suspicion falls on the Roffe cousins, all of whom want to go public with the company and sell their stock at a huge profit. Since this would be against her father’s wishes, Elizabeth rejects their advice and decides to keep the company within the family. As Inspector Hormung investigates the background of the cousins, more attempts are made on Elizabeth’s life. Hoping to reveal the guilty party, Hormung is able to connect these attempts to a series of murders on prostitutes, which are recorded on snuff films. |

Thinking about breeding my horse?
I’ve been really thinking lately about breeding my horse. She is a 5 year old Quarter Horse mare with pleasure bred bloodlines. The only thing I’m stumped on is her temperament. She can be a bit spooky at times and I wonder if there is a slight chance the foal will turn out that way too. Her half brother acts the same way so I’m wondering if it was their sires that they got it from. I have my mare’s mother and on a scale from 1-10 (1 being calm 10 being spirited) she is a 1. So can traits like that be passed on?
dont breed…. There is already an over population of horses anyway.
and you can risk your mare’s life along with the foal’s life.
Dont do it…

i don’t think so. the way the horse is treated in early life is what makes it nervous. if ur going to breed ur horse think of the responsibility. there are a lot of people killing and abusing horses due to the economy or just because they are plain sick. but its ur choice.

I would wait until she is older and has had more training and a showing record to be proud of. The spookiness can be partly from her young age. Temperament is passed on and the offspring often take after the mare but sometimes they are completely different.
Edit: Don’t feel like you have to go "save a horse." If you want certain bloodlines and qualities that your mare has and could be improved by a certain stallion you have access too, go for it. Just make sure you go over the breeding checklist with all the "if’s".

WHY? There are so-o-o-o-o many good horses out there now desperately looking for homes. If you bred her and got a baby, do you know for sure you would be able to take care of that horse for the next 35 years? Or do you plan to sell the baby if it’s not what you want. I know, everyone wants to breed their mare, but think about the training and expense necessary to make it a really good riding horse. Right now you say the mare is spooky. Wouldn’t it be better to finish her first before making any decisions. I just don’t think it is worth it. There are just too many horses out there.

I bred my 5 year old mare, she spooks sometimes. But her foal did not recive that trait from her. The foal doesn’t spook at all.
If a foal is taught from day one not to be scared of things, he wont be! a foal (any horse really), needs to be taught from day one that if you dont spook then there is nothing to be scared about.
I think you should breed, the trait should be quite easy to avoid.
good luck!

She’s 5. She’s still young, she’s expected to be spooky.
It’s really not ideal to breed a horse til they’re like 7, anyway.
You don’t breed babies out of babies.
Why do you wanna breed anyway?
Has she won anything of high accomplishment? Is her conformation perfect?
Why don’t you buy a foal? Then you can get perfect size, color, temperament, conformation, bloodlines. Possibilities are endless.
